EMERGE Campus Visit Grants

Growing and supporting a community of new and emerging engineering programs is essential to EMERGE. Through the Campus Visit Grants initiative, EMERGE members have an opportunity to travel to other campuses and meet with colleagues to support their development or expansion of their engineering program. Grants up to $1000 are available to cover reasonable travel expenses such as air transportation, hotel, and meals associated with a visit to another new or emerging engineering program. Campus Visit Grants may also be used to visit a KEEN partner campus, as these are established programs that are already incorporating entrepreneurial minded learning (EML) into their curricula.

Grant amount: up to $1000*

Travel must occur: May 1, 2024 – April 30, 2025

Application deadline: Applications are considered on a rolling basis as funds are available

Recipients of campus visit grants are required to submit a report or publish a KEEN card that describes the impact of the visit on their learning and the incorporation of EML in their program.

For questions, please email EMERGE@unc.edu, subject heading “Campus Visit Grants”.

* EMERGE campus travel grants are made possible through a grant-funded initiative administered by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with support from the Kern Family Foundation. As such, travelers, including non-UNC employees (e.g. contractors and guests) are required to follow State regulations for airfare, ground transportation, mileage, lodging, and meals among other out-of-pocket business-related travel expenses in order to receive reimbursement. Prior to making your travel arrangements, please talk with us so we can ensure your expenses will be reimbursable. Additionally, all non-UNC employees receiving a travel reimbursement are required to submit a W-9 and a direct deposit authorization form.
