Applied Physical Sciences lives in the collaborative space between science and engineering, combining knowledge and discovery with an engineering mindset, team-based science, and entrepreneurship to address real-world problems. Organized around “Ideas to Impacts,” the Department will unite with campus themes in health, water and energy to help Carolina continue to be a leader in science innovation and the application of knowledge.

BeAM is a network of campus makerspaces where UNC faculty, students and staff utilize state-of-the-art equipment and emerging technologies to design and make physical objects for education, research, entrepreneurship and recreation. BeAM provides expert training and support to UNC innovators in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

CHANL | GIVE NOW

CHANL, the Chapel Hill Analytical and Nanofabrication Laboratory operates as a shared instrumentation laboratory open to UNC researchers from all departments and other universities, government labs, and industry. CHANL provides cost-effective access to analytical and nanofabrication instrumentation that would not otherwise be available in individual research labs.
