Hossein Eybposh Receives OSA Travel Grant

Hossein Eybposh, a Ph.D. student in the Pegard lab received theĀ Jean Bennett Memorial Student Travel Grant, a competitive award of the Optical Society. With this award, Hossein will attend the OSA Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science APS/DLS conference in September 2020 to present his work on DeepCGH, which was recently published in Optics Express (see link). DeepCGH is a deep learning-based algorithm for fast and accurate computer-generated holography. His presentation, titled “Enhanced Two-photon Absorption with Deep Learning-based Computer-Generated Holography”, will focus on the advantages of DeepCGH in two-photon holographic optogenetics applications where enhancing hologram quality and computation speed is critical to perform optical brain machine interfacing tasks with minimal photodamage of brain tissue. The DeepCGH software is accessible on Github.
