Allen Wood, a 2nd year Materials Science PhD student in Jinsong Huang’s research group, received the award for Best Oral Presentation at The Consortium for Enabling Technologies and Innovations (ETI) annual workshop. Criteria for the award included quality and originality of work as well as the thoroughness and clarity of presentation.

Wood traveled to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to present “Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Perovskite Photodetectors for Room Temperature Low Light Detection” which highlighted his recent research on changing perovskite-based photodetectors. His presentation was grouped within the workshop focus area of “Novel Instrumentation for Nuclear Fuel Cycle Monitoring”; Wood explains that this area of interest is partly focused on the goal of the National Nuclear Security Administration to create advanced radiation detectors for nuclear nonproliferation.
